“A noun is a person, place or thing…” Comm’on! You know the School House Rock ditty from Saturday mornings. OK, maybe we’re showing our age. At least you picked it up from grade school, right?
As far as the “Portable” part of our name…what’s more portable than a t-shirt? You wear it, and it goes where you go. It couldn’t be simpler.
So we’re sitting around one evening (ok this happened over the course of a “few” evenings) and started bandying about really cool slogan ideas for bumper stickers and buttons. Many were good for a laugh, some for an “oooh” on the visual.
Someone (I forget who) said something like “Hey! I’d love to have that on a t-shirt.” Then we sort of shifted focus to slogans and art that would be good on t-shirts. Once we got the ball rolling, we couldn’t stop.
We thought about all the ideas we had come up with and said someone (again, I forget who), said “Wouldn’t it be cool if someone could print these t-shirts?” Someone else countered with…”Hey! Why don’t WE print these t-shirts?”
The idea behind portableNOUNS is that it’s an opportunity to express yourself. Our tees offer original artwork by artists who’ve been in the comics and anime industries for some time. You’ll find t-shirts that make you laugh, t-shirts that make you think, t-shirts that just make you say, “Now that’s cool.” If you’ve thought it, chances are other people have as well and chances are we’ve thought about it too. What better way to express “it” and thus yourself then on a Tee? Oh…and we’re not just about geek and nerd fandom. We’re branching out into politics and the entertainment industry (just to mention a couple of “targets of opportunity”).
We’re also looking to tap into new talent. You’ll see us at cons and events not only selling our wares, but also on the lookout for new ideas and new artists. So stop by, say “hello” and show us what ya’ got. We won’t bite…honest!
